DeepFX and ActiveFX CO2 Skin Resurfacing Q & A

What are DeepFX and ActiveFX CO2 Skin Resurfacing?

Dr. Nunley uses the best new technology to give you the best new look, including the fractional CO2 AcuPulse™ by Lumenis®, a revolutionary step in anti-aging treatment. The CO2 laser skin resurfacing system uses three different types of lasers in one single treatment.

Using ActiveFX and DeepFX, Dr. Nunley reduces the look of wrinkles, restores your skin’s elasticity, and enhances your natural appearance.

How do DeepFX and Active FX work?

ActiveFX and DeepFX Laser resurfacing procedures direct short, concentrated beams of light at age spots, wrinkles, crow’s feet, and other trouble areas to remove thin layers of skin without damaging or irritating the skin.

Melanin is the substance responsible for sunspots. The high-energy beams even out skin tone by targeting melanin and changing melanin dispersions.

What is the difference between DeepFX and ActiveFX treatment?

Deep FX uses heat as the catalyst for tightening your skin and affecting collagen production.

Think of DeepFX similar to a load of laundry: When you put clothing in the dryer, the clothing often shrinks. Similarly, the collagen in your face will “shrink” when heat is applied. DeepFX reaches deep below the first layer of skin and prompts collagen for months after treatment.

ActiveFX is a CO2 laser skin resurfacing treatment that uses fractional lasers. Tiny laser beams create dot patterns on your skin, causing the topmost layers of skin to disappear and regenerate a new layer of beautiful skin.

What happens when I have a DeepFX or Active FX procedure?

During the procedure, to keep you comfortable, Dr. Nunley will begin by applying a local anesthetic to your skin. You feel very little during the treatment as she guides the laser over your skin. At most, you'll experience warmth on the treated skin.

The length of the procedure depends on the level of skin restoration wanted and the placement on the body. However, most treatments last 20-30 minutes.

Afterward, you’re given a skin care routine to follow while your skin recovers: moisturizing, cleansing, and protecting your skin from the sun are all critical after your procedure.

Your skin may look dry and pink, but healthy-looking skin replaces it within a few days. Expect to see your maximum results within a week of the procedure.

If you’re ready to have beautiful skin without age spots or deep wrinkles, call or request an appointment online with Dr. Nunley.
